Tongue tacos have been around in my family for as long as I can remember. They are my favorite types of tacos. For some reason when I tell my friends about them they think it’s gross. I’m here to tell you that they are delicious! If you have never heard about these tacos and you are reading this I want you to know that these tacos are made from the tongue of a cow. I know it may sound different from what you may have heard about. But I want you to give it a try! There is nothing wrong with trying something different. Tongue tacos are traditional tacos in Mexico. You may find them to be a little bit more expensive than the other types of tacos. These tacos are included in the head tacos family.

I’m sharing this recipe with you today because I want you to enjoy these delicious tacos. Something that I have always thought about food, in general, is to taste everything at least once. If you don’t like it you don’t have to eat it ever again. So I want you to give it a try! I would encourage you to go out and try them at a restaurant. This way you can know if you like them. If you actually find that you enjoy them, now make them. Try this recipe to make them at home. Hopefully, you end up loving tongue tacos as much as I do!

Directions

  1. Take out the tongues from the packages and clean them with water. Once they are clean you can cut them into 4 pieces
  2. Place them inside the steamer pot.
  3. In the pot add the water, onion, garlic and bay leaves.
  4. Let the ingredients in the pot for about 2 hours until you check it and you find the tongue to be tender, soft and cooked.
  5. When you take them out the pot you have to take the white layer of skin that surrounds the tongue.
  6. When you finish taking off the layer of skin you can begin to chop the tongue into small pieces.
  7. Now you can begin to make your tacos.

This recipe is not too complicated to make. The only delay is when it’s cooking in the pot. You have to wait until it’s completely cooked and ready to eat!!

Remember when it comes to food you should always give it a try!
